Dr. Hollinger's most recent composition is a collection of organ preludes “From Every Corner” published by Augsburg Fortress. www.augsburgfortress.org This collection includes an exuberant setting of the French carol, Besancon, a playfully-syncopated arrangement of Blessed Assurance, and a creative trilogy on three South African songs. Organists will appreciate the energetic approach to familiar tune, Ein feste Burg, in which Hollinger explores harsh and dissonant harmonies representing the 'satanic foe' which resolve with confidence assuring us that God is victorious. (Perhaps we can put in a sound bite here from my recent digital recording - is this possible?)
These preludes are indicative of the vibrant and varied compositions that are characteristic of Daryl's craft. Church musicians will find them a delight to play and congregations rejoice in the global aspect they bring to worship.
If you are looking for great choral anthems, Dr. Hollinger has written pieces for choirs of all sizes and ability. You can purchase some of these from www.sibeliusmusic.com or contact Daryl directly.
Perhaps you need some musical worship aids such as choral responses, introits, benedictions, Psalm settings or Psalm refrains. You will find Dr. Hollinger's compositions hold deep meaning and yet are easy to sing as your choir or soloists lead in worship. These works are contemporary and theologically profound. They are certain to enliven your worship service.
Here are a few samples of music available:
- How Blessed Are They - Psalm 1 - simple, two part setting may be used as a choral call to worship or introit
- Kyrie Eleison - contemplative, chant-like setting appropriate for confessions, prayers, and guided meditations. Most delightful when sung in a round, either with two voices or small choir. Congregation can learn to sing this easily.
- Mary's Song and Song of Simeon - great concert pieces for the Advent Season. Performed numerous times by Lancaster Chamber Singers.
- God Is My Shepherd - for solo voice or unison choir - this works is a descriptive portrayal of the 23rd Psalm and is a fresh sound for a favorite passage. It has been requested numerous times for funerals.
